According to the WHO, Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The organization declared the COVID-19 global pandemic on March 11, 2020. The global sources provide the latest information on matters related to the pandemic:

The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) is providing strategic support for the strengthening of emergency preparedness and response systems in the APP and other program countries in the global south to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is being facilitated through the strengthening of the National and Public Health Emergency Operations Centers, risk communication, awareness-raising, and developing a repository of knowledge resources for South-South learning and knowledge exchange. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all the APP countries – Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka to varying degrees.

It has also affected other program countries such as Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, and Thailand. Relevant authorized information, education, and communications (IEC) materials have been compiled from these countries for facilitating South-South Learning and Knowledge Exchange.
