Training on Rights-Based and Inclusive Approaches (RBIA) to Early Warning, Evacuation, and Camp Management

The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) has been implementing the program on Building Resilience through Inclusive and Climate-adaptive Disaster Risk Reduction in Asia-Pacific (BRDR, 2028-2022), in partnership with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI), and supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The program aims to protect development gains and enhance regional cooperation on inclusive and gender-equal risk reduction approaches. The BRDR Program focuses on establishing evidence-based methods, tools, and practices that apply inclusive, gender-equal rights-based approaches in DRR, and sharing the lessons learned at regional forums for further uptakes.

Key training objectives:

  • Understanding the four elements of a rights-based and inclusive approach
  • Applying the four elements when evaluating early warning, evacuation and camp management measures from local to national level
  • Applying the four elements when designing early warning, evacuation and camp management measures from local to national level
  • Co-developing relevant training materials with actors at the local level
