National event to commemorate International Disaster Risk Reduction Day
The Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Sri Lanka as the focal point for disaster risk management in the country is hosting a national commemoration program. The theme of the national event is “COVID-19 and systemic risks” which complements the IDDRR 2021 key objectives. It will focus on the key areas that have been significantly affected due to the pandemic from Sri Lanka’s point of view and also with special emphasis on the importance of having a better understanding of the multidimensional nature of risks, from a systemic perspective. The views and experiences to be shared by a renowned panel of local and overseas professionals and academics will showcase Sri Lanka’s envelopment in strengthening international cooperation to transform learned lessons into effective mechanisms of regional collaboration, in the face of systemic risks.
