Joint Pre-Monsoon Coordination Meeting Between NCDM and Partners

Cambodia is regularly exposed to a variety of natural hazards, most commonly floods, drought, and disease outbreaks. Based on the recent forecast by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, there will be much rain that will probably cause flooding in the upcoming mid-monsoon. Therefore, NCDM will reactivate a coordination platform that was jointly developed since 2017 aimed to build partnership and coordination with the NCDM, the Humanitarian Response Forum (HRF), Joint Action Group (JAG), and Cambodian Humanitarian Forum (CHF).
The purpose of this meeting is to outline the coordination mechanisms envisaged of the Preparedness Partnership of Cambodia (PPC). It is an essential mechanism in ensuring that all partners update on the project’s overall context, main issues and gaps identified, and what other partners are doing to avoid duplication.
The objectives of the meeting include:

  • Updates on ongoing disaster management (DM) work (3Ws: Who does What and Where),
  • Be updated on NCDM priorities, policies, procedures, and key documents (e.g. DM subsidiary legislation, the National Contingency Plan),
  • Clarity on the roles and responsibilities of all parties and key focal points. The outcome from the meetings will also feed into the preparation of the disaster risk reduction (DRR) Forum.
