A Woman Champion for Building Community Resilience in Cambodia

“As a participant and Commune Chief, I had the opportunity to be actively involved in group discussions and practice the application of disaster preparedness tools I was really interested in identifying hazards in my commune and adopting methods to mitigate them. Thanks to the training I received, I felt confident to talk about climate change impact and how to prepare for future disasters.” – Mrs. Sim Pov, Commune Chief, Roka Commune, Western Cambodia

The Preparedness Partnership of Cambodia (PPC) conducted a training on Disaster Management to ensure leaders and communities can identify and mitigate hazards. This case-study is part of an initiative to capture individual stories of change by APP national chapters in each country to highlight how their interventions have benefited the communities at large. These individuals have enthusiastically participated in APP activities and taken it a step beyond to propel concrete actions in making their communities prepared for disasters.
