The private sectors play a vital role in emergency response so far with the government of Cambodia. Through support from the Preparedness Partnership of Cambodia (PPC) secretariat and the National Center for Disaster Management (NCDM) with funding support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (the Foundation) and the United States Agency for International Development Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (USAID BHA), FASMEC organized a face-to-face training on business continuity management (BCM) for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Cambodia. The event seeks to engage SMEs, help prevent businesses from the impact of natural and human-made disasters, and ensure the continuity of their businesses. The main objectives of the training aim to identify a roster of potential resource persons for BCP training among SMEs in Cambodia and to develop a BCP for the SMEs of the participants upon their return after the training. The objectives of the meeting include:

  • describing the process of business impact analysis (BIA)
  • analyzing disaster risks toward risk assessment
  • identifying a roster of potential resource persons for BCP training among SMEs in Cambodia
  • developing business continuity plans including a plan for the exercise, test and review of a business continuity plan (BCP)
