Training: Leadership in Disaster Risk Reduction (Key Activity 4.4) as per the SLPP Phase II work plan
Sri Lanka is prone to numerous hazards such as flooding, landslide, drought, tsunami, cyclones, high winds, lightning and so forth. The officials at the decision-making level, particularly the district and divisional secretaries and department heads, play a crucial role before, during, and after disasters to prepare for and respond to disasters. Hence, improving their technical and operational and leadership capacities on disaster risk reduction is one of the important factors in managing disasters.
Under the Sri Lanka Preparedness Partnership (SLPP), it is proposed to conduct on DRR leadership for the government officials at the district level who have been actively engaged in disaster management to improve their leadership capacities.
Key objectives:
- Strengthening the DRR leadership capacities of respective officials at the district level to reduce the impact of disaster risks in their respective geographical locations
