National Validation Workshop on Protection against Lightning/ Electric Standards and Training Curricula
Lightning is a major cause of electrical over-voltages or surges that often lead to electrical hazards and fire breaks. This is also one of the major causes of fire in urban areas triggering electrical faults and hazards. The electrical surges produced by the lightning discharges, often result in arcing leading to fire breaks through combustible substances and through the electronic appliances, like explosions of gas cylinders, kerosene stoves, and explosions of solar panel batteries, electrical faults leading to fire hazards, etc.
Based on the need to improve the present capacities and institutionalization of knowledge and understanding of Protection against Lightning and Electrical Fire Safety Standards (PaL/EFSS) Standards, training curricula have been developed to address the issues concerning Protection against Lighting and Electrical Fire Safety. This workshop is designed to share the produced documents and obtain comments and feedback to finalize. The final document will be purposeful to promote wider sensitization and discourse among the stakeholders and general public.
This workshop aims to validate the developed documents on PaL/EFSS Guidelines and Training Curricula. The specific objectives are:
- sharing and discussing PaL/EFSS Standards and Training Curricula,
- cumulating input/feedback/comments from participants to finalize the document, and
- planning the way forward.
