National Conference on “Innovation and Enterprises for Disaster Resilient Nepal”: Local Solutions for Global Challenges

476 476 people viewed this event.

One of the key activities under the APP and NPP Phase II is to bring together youths entrepreneurs and major innovation centers working in the field of disaster risk management and reduction (DRM/R) to learn the technical needs and gaps in the field of DRM/R, particularly on innovation, exchange experiences, and finally build a collective approach on investing more skills, knowledge, and resources on DRM/R related innovation and its local production of the innovation products so the country can be benefitted to make Nepal a disaster resilient nation.

Until now, the private sector and youth entrepreneurs’ engagement in pre-disaster situations has been very much excluded or not adequately promoted. Their engagement is necessary because they can develop, promote, and invest in producing locally suitable technology to make Nepal a disaster-resilient nation. The major objective of this one-day national workshop is to bring together the private sector and youth entrepreneurs working in the field of DRM/R to learn the country’s felt need on DRM/R and promote innovation and possible in-country productions.

Key objectives:

  • Developing understandings on the needs and gaps in DRM/R innovations
  • Exchanging experiences on DRM/R related innovations in Nepal
