Pilot Training Programme on the “Application of Humanitarian Standards”
Reaffirming the importance of developing humanitarian standards catering to the needs of disaster affected population, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) initiated the development of appropriate humanitarian standards that follow the Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response (“SPHERE”) as a guiding principle. In this regard, the initial work, which commenced in 2021 has witnessed substantial progression, owing to the support extended by the nominated representatives of various organisations.
Accordingly, as the next phase of this programme, DMC under the patronage of SLPP organised a workshop in February 2022 to document a suitable framework and contextualize appropriate humanitarian standards in a Sri Lankan context. Since then, the document on revised humanitarian standards was developed and circulated for comments from technical experts.
The key objective of this event is to:
- Train the Trainers (TOT) on the Humanitarian Standards for Safety Centers and compliance with the policy document
