The Bangladesh Preparedness Partnership (BPP), led by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), with technical assistance from the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and financial support from the Gates Foundation, conducted a focused study to revitalize Disaster Management Information Centers (DMICs) in Cox’s Bazar, Kurigram, and Bagerhat. DMICs are essential for collecting, analyzing, and sharing disaster-related information, enabling timely communication, coordinated response, and enhanced community resilience. Although 65 DMIC buildings have been constructed since 2018, many remain underutilized due to operational and structural challenges. Based on field visits, stakeholder consultations, and a national workshop, the study report identifies key obstacles and provides 32 actionable recommendations to improve DMIC functionality and guide their effective scaling across Bangladesh.
