REFLECTION WORKSHOP OF THE ASIAN PREPAREDNESS PARTNERSHIP (APP)
Sustaining Collaboration: Advancing the Future of National Preparedness Partnerships
The APP Secretariat, ADPC will host the APP Reflection Workshop in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 23–24 July 2025. This regional workshop will bring together representatives from APP’s National Preparedness Partnerships (NPPs) across seven countries to reflect on progress made under Phase 3 of the initiative.
Objectives of the Reflection workshop of APP
1. Reflect on Pillar 2 progress, key challenges, and actions undertaken in strengthening and consolidating the NPP
- Share the progress made in Pillar 2 (sub-grant – national partnerships).
- Present the key challenges and actions undertaken in strengthening and consolidating the National Preparedness Partnerships (NPPs), based on the country workshops facilitated by the APP Secretariat.
2. Strengthen NPP coordination structure and share future vision
- Showcase the sustainable path forward for NPPs through their definition of localization and their joint roles, as outlined in their newly developed ToRs or MoUs, beyond the project’s duration.
- Present each NPP’s strategic action plan for advancing the localization of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) and climate resilience.
- Identify potential financing mechanisms that can be leveraged to support locally-led DRR and climate initiatives.
3. Share best practices and identify key success factors for sustainability
- Define and discuss the key factors crucial for the long-term sustainability of NPPs in each country, and identify strategies for overcoming obstacles to the continued functioning of these partnerships after the conclusion of the project.
- Foster the exchange of best practices, innovative solutions, and successful partnership models for sustainability among government, civil society, the private sector, and other key stakeholders.
4. Reflect on Pillar 1 progress and frame the NPPs’ localization models
- Share the progress made on Pillar 1 (ADRF grant).
- Share the emerging localization models arising from the implementation of the ADRF locally-led initiatives.
- Share insights in enhancing the emerging localization models.
- Frame the envisioned localization model.
5. Strengthen regional cooperation, learning, and the ADRF
- Discuss opportunities for further strengthening regional cooperation between countries including advocating for the Asian Disaster Readiness Fund (ADRF), focusing on shared challenges and collective learning and action in disaster preparedness and response.
