Capacity Enhancement of Partners and Stakeholders
To enhance and strengthen the capacity of local humanitarian actors, organizations, and disaster management practitioners, a webinar on “Gender in Humanitarian Action and IASC Gender with Age Marker (GAM)” was conducted on 17 January 2023. The webinar aimed at sensitizing PRP partners/humanitarian actors on the importance of gender inclusion in the flood response in 2022 and informing them of the tools and techniques that will enable them to integrate it into their humanitarian program cycle. The participants were also oriented on the IASC Gender with Age Marker (GAM). They were attended by 43 individuals (28 male, 15 female) representing local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government INGOs, and community members. The activity was co-financed by the NDMA.
Develop linkage with PSEA Network
To address the sexual harassment and abuse challenges in emergency response, PRP has been working closely with Pakistan’s Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Assault, and Harassment (PSEA) Network. As a result of a series of meetings held with the PSEA network, an assessment of the PRP partners was conducted to determine their level of understanding with regard to SEA and based on that assessment a standardized/ tailor made training curriculum was designed to build capacity of the PRP partners on the discipline. In continuation of the initiative PRP conducted a two days training on PSEA code of conduct for its partners. The training was held at Muzaffargarh (Punjab) from 19 – 20 January 2023 and was attended by 15 individuals. Details are as below. The activity was supported by the NHN.
Assessing the Impact of PRP Phase II
A consultative after-action review (AAR) workshop to assess the impact of the PRP Phase-II program was conducted with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and enabling management to make informed decisions about the future direction of the program. The workshop was held on 22 February 2023 and was attended by 25 individuals. The participants included individuals who participated in various activities, beneficiary departments/organizations, and master trainers/consultants involved in formulating plans/policy documents/ guidelines. Members/ focal persons of the PRP steering committee also participated in the workshop.
Enhancing Coordination of PRP Partners
The 10th quarterly/15th PRP steering committee meeting was held on 7 March 2023, under the chairmanship of NDMA. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Muhammad Idrees, Member, NDMA, and was attended by the PRP and Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) partners/ implementation agencies. The progress of both the Asian Preparedness Partnership (APP)/PRP and LEAP projects was presented to the participants. The PRP steering committee members were also briefed about the PEER 5 evaluation and the progress made.
Establishment of Linkages with Academic Institutions
Conduct of regular consultative sessions and learning seminars on disaster management through specialists in various universities/colleges to create linkages with the institutions and enlighten them on the importance of disaster management knowledge was planned for the purpose of knowledge exchange. The activity for the tenth quarter was organized by PRP on 26 January 2023 for the faculty members and students of “Government Islamia College Civil Lines Lahore”. The session was conducted by Dr. Nadeem Ahmed, DRR Specialist on the subject of “Disaster Management and Importance of Disaster Preparedness for Effective Response”. The session was attended by 31 participants including five faculty members.
