Establishment of Myanmar Preparedness Partnership

In line with the regional initiative, where six countries in Asia (Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Sri Lanka) have formed the Asian Preparedness Partnership (APP) for strengthening the capacity on preparedness for emergency response in Asia, the stakeholders came together to formalize and establish the Myanmar Preparedness Partnership at Nay Pyi Taw on 2 February, 2018, in order to improve the interface and partnership between government, local humanitarian organizations, private sector and other stakeholders for enhancing capacities through partnerships, knowledge resources, training, and networking opportunities.

Mission of Myanmar Preparedness Partnership
Enhance the partnerships, collaboration and coordination among government, local humanitarian & civil society organizations and the private sector at the country level.

Objectives of Partnership
•    To establish more effective partnerships among stakeholders for preparedness for disaster response and recovery.
•    To improve humanitarian leadership and coordination through systematically strengthening local institutions.
•    To improve humanitarian information management and knowledge exchange.
•    To ensure sustainability of the partnership by commitment, ownership, and investment by the stakeholders.
