Regional Sensitization Workshop on Integrating Gender-Equal and Rights-Based Approaches into APP Action Plans
Improving capacities at the local level is fundamental to reducing disaster vulnerability. In this context, ADPC as the APP Secretariat, with support from SIDA and BMGF is organizing the Regional Sensitization Workshop on Integrating Gender-Equal and Rights-Based Approaches into APP Action Plans from 23 -24 April 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The two-day workshop aims to sensitize the APP Regional Steering Committee members on inclusive approaches and to further improve APP country action plans by identifying key strategies for integration. This workshop will help achieve the overarching objective of enhancing gender equality through rights-based approaches in disaster risk reduction in the South and South-East Asia region.
Key objectives of the workshop are:
- To contextualize the framework of gender and rights based approaches in preparedness for emergency response
- To identify appropriate entry points for more inclusive and gender and rights based strategies for the APP country action plans
- To discuss and outline the regional framework on integration of gender and rights based approaches into preparedness for emergency response
