The Asian Preparedness Partnership (APP) is guided by the APP Regional Steering Committee (APPRSC), assisted by the ADPC as its secretariat and supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (the Foundation), USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID/BHA), and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Its main aim is to promote regional cooperation between the countries and accelerate locally-led actions (localization) for disaster risk management.

The 6th Asian Preparedness Partnership Regional Steering Committee (APPRSC) meeting will adopt the virtual modality this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The national chapter of APP in Nepal, the Nepal Preparedness Partnership (NPP), will co-host the 6th APPRSC meeting under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Government of Nepal, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Nepal Disaster Resilient Network (NDR Net) in accordance with their role as the Co-Chairs of the APPRSC for the year 2020.

The meeting will allow the countries to critically review and reflect on the progress and the adjustments made in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the regional level, it will also give an opportunity to share information on key interventions on regional coordination and cooperation and south-south learning and knowledge exchange. With the need to adjust to the ‘new normal,’ the meeting will serve as a venue for the members to discuss potential priority interventions for the regional cooperation and South-South learning and knowledge exchange for the year 2021.

The key participants will include the APPRSC members from the Governments, Local Humanitarian Networks, and the Private Sector in Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka; invited dignitaries; representatives from BMGF, USAID, BHA; and observers from the Government, Non-Profit Associations (NPAs) and the Private Sector Network from Laos and ADPC APP secretariat/program staff.
